Site Appraisals

Through early engagement with the design team and with highway authorities, we provide optimum, deliverable site arrangements and access proposals, which maximise potential value whilst minimising abortive works and costs.

Local Plan Representations

We can support the project team in getting sites adopted within the local plan. These works can include development appraisals and contributing to masterplans and ‘call for sites’ submission. We have a track record of assisting with sites that have been previously rejected within local plans and providing advice to overcome refusals.

Transport Statements and Assessments

A Transport Assessment (TA) is a statutory requirement for planning applications for any developments likely to have a significant impact on the local highway network.

We prepare the relevant transport reports to support a planning application, ensuring accordance with both national and local transport planning policy. We work closely with the local highway authorities and our clients to develop sustainable schemes that remain commercially attractive.

Travel Plans

We prepare Travel Plans tailored to the proposed development to encourage sustainable travel and minimise the impact in terms of congestion, air quality and health. We can also support clients in achieving BREEAM status.

Following approval of the Travel Plan by the local authority, we can support you with its implementation. We can act as the Travel Plan Coordinator, managing and implementing the proposed initiatives and ensuring the relevant surveys are undertaken. We can also provide personal travel planning advice to employees to support sustainable travel to and from the site.

Environmental Assessments

We can provide the necessary traffic data to support air and noise quality assessments.

We can also support the development of the Transport chapter of Environmental Statements or Environmental Impact Assessments, in line with the latest IEMA guidelines.

Infrastructure Design

MJM can facilitate intelligent highway design services in-house or with the support of our partners. We work on projects that range in scale from individual junctions on local road networks to major road improvement schemes on national highway infrastructure.

We can support the discharge of planning conditions, the implementation of Section 38 and Section 278 works, including liaison with relevant authorities to ensure a timeous and smooth approval process.

We can also facilitate independent Road Safety Audits (RSA) for new schemes or improvement to existing highways features, in line with Road Safety Audit Standard HD 19/15.
