New facilities including a large clubhouse with changing rooms, gym, function rooms/bar, grandstand seating, along with full size natural turf and artificial pitches and two smaller training pitches. The clubhouse build cost is £3.2 million, with an additional £1.17 million for the pitch works. J Mallinson Ltd commenced work on the pitches in May 2016 and the clubhouse construction works followed as a separate contract by Pinington. The facility as a whole was completed ready for the start of the 2017-2018 season. Recently promoted Kendal ‘Hornets’ currently compete in the ‘National League 3 North’ division, a fifth level league in the English system, but with the new facilities rivalling teams in the RFU Championship three levels above, they hope that their new ground will assist in their continued progression up the divisions. The relocation of the rugby club is part of a larger project by Morbaine to build a new supermarket on the original Kendal RUFC site with 50,000sq.ft. net sales area.
