Davygate, York

A 50,000 sq. ft. retail development for Standard Life and Hawkstone Properties requiring the demolition of a life expired 1960’s eyesore and the refurbishment of a listed chapel to form a bookshop on a confined city centre site with very limited access.

Piled foundations were complicated by access difficulties and adjacent buildings and the presence of extensive archaeological remains which required thorough prior investigation.

A similar scheme for the same clients has now been completed in Reading.
