The Northern Gateway scheme – includes an enterprise centre on the site of Holywell Cross (Donut) car park – due to open for business in early 2022.
As part of a wider regeneration plan this development opportunity included a public realm design that connects the Northern Gateway towards the historic Town Centre.
The Northern Gateway Enterprise Centre will provide 26,000 sq. ft of modern workplace accommodation situated over three storeys. Working closely with the whole design team we achieved a BREEAM Excellent rating in line with the council’s aspirations to deliver sustainable design.
The variable ground conditions and archaeological issues found on site required the use of a combination of foundation solutions to ensure a cost effective build could be achieved.
The braced steel frame and composite decks required coordination with the Architect and M&E designer to ensure service zones and penetrations were maintained whilst still minimising the building height to achieve the cost targets imposed.
