The philosophy of our company is to grow from within. Staff are encouraged to develop particular skills and expertise, whilst working in the broader fields of civil and structural engineering.

At MJM you will be more than just a number – you will have the opportunity to be recognised and the ability to shape your career around your skills and interests. You can expect more than just a place to work too, with regular social activities, team building events and trips away, at MJM you will be part of a family.

Training and Development

MJM understand the importance of staff development and growth. We actively support staff through all stages of their career, from apprentices to directors. Our staff training policy aims to develop a team of professionals who are competent, efficient and focused on delivering excellent service, whilst still being motivated to continue their own personal development and contribute to the profession. Some of the things we offer include:

  • Comprehensive CPD, through internal and external seminars and courses
  • Day release and financial support for academic and professional qualifications
  • A strong mentoring environment for staff at all levels
  • Responsibility from day one – encouraging project responsibility from inception to completion, with support and guidance from senior members of staff as needed. As a result wide experience is gained rapidly not just in technical matters but wider issues such as financial and client relationships

Wellbeing

At MJM, the health and wellbeing of all our colleagues is paramount. Everyone can experience personal and professional challenges from time to time. When our colleagues need it, we have lots of measures in place to help. Some of these services are also available to their immediate family members for added reassurance.

As part of our support network we have an in house certified mental health first aider (MHFA). The MHFA is there to recognise when our colleagues might need some extra help and can help to identify and access appropriate resource and professional help.

Our offering also includes support through a 24 hour helpline, counselling, legal advice and bereavement support.

Our private health scheme includes the AXA Doctor at Hand service which allows all members to book an online GP appointment when needed and at short notice.

Our “time off in lieu” and flexible working practices gives everyone the opportunity to achieve a work/home life balance.

It’s not all about work at MJM. We pride ourselves on providing a supportive and social environment with regular team building activities, social events, charity days and team sports.
