Unit 1, Queensgate Retail Park, Harlow

Client: The Crown Estate
Services Provided: Civil & Structural, Drainage

Refurbishment and sub-division of an existing out of town retail unit.
The existing non-food unit was to be sub-divided into three separate units, one of which was a change of use to food retail. As part of the refurbishment, the roof was to be re-clad. MJM provided structural services to assess the strength of the existing portal frame for the new roof sheeting and specified strengthening works where required. Steelwork design also included support to the full height division walls, new openings through walls throughout the unit and modifications to feature sign support steelwork to the front elevation to reflect the change in internal layout. Civils services included additional drainage to serve the new food retail space through the existing floor slab, along with external works to form an additional service yard.
